Wyatt Wilkie

Luthier Wyatt Wilkie grew up surrounded by music. His father was a professional mandolinist who often played with mandolin greats Jethro Burns and Tiny Moore.  He taught Wyatt the intricacies of the instrument and soon Wyatt began playing professionally in Calgary.

Always intrigued by the design and construction of archtop instruments he began building in 1999.  He spent the following decade honing his skills in workshops on both sides of the Atlantic and for two years apprenticed with master luthier Bob Benedetto in Savannah, Ga.

Wyatt has hand-carved well over 150 guitars and mandolins in the last seventeen years.  From his one-man shop in the Comox Valley, British Columbia, Wyatt builds around a dozen custom archtop guitars and mandolins per year.  He is eager to build one for you.  He believes in the importance of working closely with each customer and communicates through photographs each step of the building process.
