Description: | 1962 Gibson L-4CN Acoustic Archtop A very rare find indeed. Excellent ++++++ Condition. All original except for reproduction pickguard and an older professional refret. The frets are in excellent condition with no visible wear on the fingerboard or inlays. Professionally examined and setup by a leading luthier in Minnesota several months ago. He noted that there are also two slight grain cracks, one on each f-hole that were repaired and cleated long ago at the Gibson factory. Gorgeous caramel color. No hint of tobacco odor on guitar or case. Spruce top with Birdseye maple back and sides. Mahogany neck. The original tuners work perfectly. It has never had a pick-up or strap button installed. The only noticeable finish checking is on the back of the headstock. It has a 24 ¾” scale with a 1 11/16” nut. The action at the 12th fret is 5/64" with no buzzing or dead spots. Lots of adjustment left on the bridge wheels. The legendary slim neck profile was only used on some Gibson archtops from 1960-1962. Plays like butter! Big, warm voice. Original Brown 50’s Lifton case. |
