A lifelong woodworker, Tim began making instruments in high school. After studying with Tom Ribbecke in 1995 he made his first arch top; they have been his main focus since. Thirteen years of full time repair work in San Francisco’s busiest repair shop informed his approach to making new instruments. He makes guitars with the player and repairman in mind.
When he first started building, he copied the dramatically carved arches of the prototypical example, but his own interpretation has evolved into a much subtler top arch, with widened X-bracing for a refined sound.
He enjoys any challenge and likes to think outside the box in order to achieve his goal and satisfy the needs of the customer.
